Personal computers are generally divided into two platforms, Windows and Macintosh. In spite of the large market share of the Windows platform, the choice is either personal or institutional. As far as functionality is concerned, either platform is equally adequate. For any computer, a minimum of 32 MB (Mega byte) of RAM (memory inside the computer) is recommended along with a large capacity hard disk (4 GB or larger) and a CD-ROM drive.
